I covered the Miami AI Summit a few days ago and was honestly impressed. This year the event took place at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel - versus last year at the Mayfair in Coconut Grove - and honestly the whole thing felt like a level up. So many more people, a beautifully sophisticated venue, and hosted in a part of the city brimming with energy right now.
Though I was only there for half a day, I made it to two sessions. One was on AI in the enterprise, with Jayson Dunn from NVIDIA, Greg Coquillo from Microsoft, Yuriy Litvinov from AWS and Burhan Sebin from eMerge Americas. The other on how to build with GrokBot, with Nathan Schroeder from SpaceX AI. The caliber of speakers this year was really impressive, with Miami Tech continuing to grow and thrive under what founder Mel Medina calls “The Emerge Effect”.
One of my favorite parts of these events? Bumping into old friends from the Miami media scene who cover tech, and hearing how everyone is using AI to help them in their work. Plugging myself back in like this is such a treat. It really fills me with energy, and it reminds me that I need to get out there MORE.
I’m excited for eMerge Americas too coming back next March, but there’s something special about a smaller event like this. The connections just happen more naturally.
Some of my main takeaways from the day:
Miami’s AI scene is growing fast, and the big players are paying attention.
The best insights still come from one-on-one conversations, not just the stage.
Get out there and show up. Your network is part of your edge.
There’s still a lot of work to do getting more women into AI, and I want to do more to educate and bring women along.
🎯 YOUR EDGE THIS WEEK
Find one local tech event this month and go. Say hi to three people and ask them one question: how are you using AI in your work right now? You’ll walk away with more ideas than any YouTube video can give you.
See you next week! Karina
