I drank the Minnie kool-aid, and loved it.
Disney continues to be a marketers' dream and one of the top consumer-focused, innovative brands out there
Eight years after I found myself sequestered in Orlando during my first Miami hurricane, I returned to Disney with my daughter. Many things have been frozen in time - classic rides like the spinning teacups and space mountain, nightly fireworks, the Florida heat. Others are changing in real time (especially how technology has become an increasingly important element to the Disney experience). Some things I learned on this trip:
Life is on the other side of fear. Especially when it comes to scary rides and roller coasters. Whether it was to prove to my daughter I could keep up with her thrill seeking spirit or to give her the support she needed to test her edge, I went there with her (kudos and martinis for mom!)
Disney remains a marketers dream. From experience building (scents, cleanliness, customer service) to store merch, surprise and delight is defacto and I was loving it
Customer demographic is 1+ infinity and beyond. It doesn’t matter your age, your race, background, your physical or mental abilities, Disney is the definition of inclusivity, a place for all, and everyone can find something that sparks joy
Whoever came up with Lightning Lanes, Minnie Vans, Magic Bands, are genius product people and I want to talk to them right now!
Backpacks, Mickey ears, shoulder characters, never did I want to buy something I would’ve never thought about buying in my real life
The Magic is real. And now I am dying to know, who are the people behind the scenes? Who cleans and touches up and landscapes and keeps it looking so shiny? There is a behind the scenes Keys to the Kingdom Tour that clues you into the magic-making process which looks so cool!
My experience with a 3 year old was all about princesses. My experience with an 11 year old was all about rollercoasters, a perfect reflection of life
What do you think about Disney? Do you love going back? Tell me in the comments!
